I Had My First Hotel Visitor!
Most Animal Crossing New Horizons fans knew exactly what was happening on Thursday, January 15th, including me! I wasn’t planning to stream it but when all my efforts to set up OBS to allow me to stream from my Switch again came into alignment, I had to do it. I had so much fun and made a new ACNH friend!
January 15th was the release of the Animal Crossing New Horizons update! And for my first Animal Crossing Screenshot Saturday I have some great pics to share with you.
Resetti Returns to Animal Crossing New Horizons
Of course, I’ve met Resetti at Brewster’s Coffee Shop, but he never really says much. All I knew was that he appeared often in previous versions of Animal Crossing and he would get very cranky if you time travelled a lot. But I didn’t know much about him other than that.
On Thursday, I got to know him a little better and he introduced me to his new services. And he had a lot to say!
The gist of it:
- He’s starting the Reset Service. In otherwords, he can reset your ENTIRE island “in the blink of an eye.” He can reset decorative things (furniture, fencing, ladders, etc.) and anything placed on the ground. Trees, bushes, veggie – anything in the ground – “I ain’t touchin’ it.” Anything cleaned up goes to your home storage (a good excuse for me to buy more storage!).
- He can tackle the entire island at once.
- Or he can focus on specific spots like beaches or areas you choose.
- He doesn’t touch shells and stuff that washes up from the ocean.
- It costs 60,000 bells/day but you can do as much resetting as you want in a day (that’s a lot of bells, right????)
- First time is free.
- He can also reset flowers and custom designs set on the ground.
- Flowers can either go in storage or the garbage.
- He’s also offering pest control in case your house is infested.
- You can talk to Isabel if you want the service.
- No services on festival days.
How exciting! I was planning on restarting my island after I finish my Lake Resort theme but…maybe not. Maybe just a reset? I’ll think about it. I’m not quite done yet so I’ve got time to think about it.
The Hotel
This is the part I’ve been most excited about. If you’re not into decorating, this might not mean much to you, but I love decorating rooms and I’m super psyched to create all these rooms!
Of course, Tom Nook has to act like he’s all in charge but it’s really Kapp’n and his family running the show at the hotel. Kapp’n’s wife, Leilani, or as he calls her, “the wind in me sails,” is handling all the rooms. But she needs some help with decorating. That’s where you come in.
You design the rooms based on a theme. You can use any furniture that is available to you – not the stuff you own.
And when the room is done, a guest comes to visit and stay in the hotel!
There’s also Gran, Kapp’n’s mom. She’s in charge of the souvenir shop! I don’t know about you but I’m excited to have some new stuff to buy. I’m gonna buy it all!
There’s also this little guy to the left but I’m not sure what he does yet.
I even designed my first room! It’s a seaside room so I wanted a crisp, clean, white look with some blue accents. I went with the rattan furniture (I imagine a lot of us will) with the light brown rattan and the blue fabrics. White and blue would be my first choice but since that wasn’t an option, I settled for light brown.
I have a sitting area surrounded by bookshelves, a bedroom, and a dining area. My daughter noticed I didn’t put in a bathroom and I guess I should go back and do that…I don’t know why I didn’t think of it. LOL. I’ll probably add a bathroom in the corner.
So temporarily, this is what it looks like:
I got my first visitor shortly after that – Chester. He’s cute and he was very excited to have a room to stay in while he visits Graceland.
Touring My Island
As I mentioned earlier, I made a new ACNH friend. She popped into my stream so I gave her a quick tour (I didn’t have a lot of time left since I had to go to work).
We took a quick run through the Mario themed miniature golf course, stopped at Lucky’s nightclub for a visit (he was cooking and gave me the recipe for mushroom potage), visited Mitzi’s farmer’s market and stopped in for a quick visit with her, ran around the island in the middle of my island where there’s a 24/7 carnival, and danced at the outdoor gyroid concert.
Zucker wanted me to come visit so I stopped into his Surf Shop and had a quick chat and a game of high card/low card. I lost, which was too bad because he was actually offering something I wanted (an earbuds combo).
And we wrapped it up with a little tour of my house.
