It’s almost Halloween and if you’re anything like me the question might be, “What Fortnite costumes can I come up with this year?” rather than just, “What are you dressing up as?” Yes, I am obsessed.
Here’s the good news: Fortnite skins make some of the best DIY costumes around. They’re bold, colorful, instantly recognizable, and most of them can be thrown together from stuff you already own plus a quick dollar-store run. No sewing machine required.
Whether you’re dressing up the kids for trick-or-treating or putting together your own party look, here are 12 Fortnite costumes ranked from “I did this in 30 minutes” to “weekend craft project.”
Before you start: 4 Fortnite costume rules
1. Comfort wins. Make sure your comfortable. If you’re going to a party or standing at your door for hours, you don’t want to be itching and scratching or pulling your way through the night.
2. Dress warm underneath. If you’re going trick or treating with the kids, remember that Canadian Halloween is cold. Plan for layers and build your costume so it fits over everything.
3. Keep your vision clear. Adult or child, you gotta be able to see. A mask looks cute but it’s not so cute when you trip over the curb or fall over the back of a couch because you can’t see. Face paint or open-face masks are the safer pick for kids and adults alike.
4. Carry a pickaxe. Seriously — a cardboard harvesting tool instantly turns “person in a pink hoodie” into “oh, you’re Cuddle Team Leader!” Instructions at the bottom.
Super easy: 30 minutes or less
1. Jonesy (kids & adults) — the easiest Fortnite costume in existence
Jonesy is basically camo pants or chinos, a t-shirt, and vest. Add a toy pickaxe or a cardboard one and you’re done. Bonus points for shin gaurds – make them out of cardboard and duct tape. If you’ve ever needed a last-minute costume, this is it.
Get creative and do one of the more specific Jonesy skins. There’s so many to choose from Brainiac Jonesy is an obvious choice for Halloween but you could also do Rabbit Raider Jonesy, Buccaneer Jonesy, or Special Forces Jonesy with a few adaptations.
2. Skull Trooper (kids & adults)
Black pants, black long-sleeve shirt, and a skull face paint job (white base, black eyes and nose — YouTube has 5-minute tutorials). No face paint skills? A cheap plastic skull mask works too. Spooky, simple, and it looks great in photos.
3. Cuddle Team Leader (kids & adults)
The coziest Fortnite costume on this list. Pink hoodie, pink sweatpants, a bear-ears headband (dollar store or DIY with felt), and a little heart drawn on your nose with eyeliner. Kids love this one, and honestly, adults look adorable in it too.
4. Brite Bomber (kids & adults)
Pink or rainbow wig, purple t-shirt, sunglasses, and fingerless gloves. If you’re feeling ambitious, draw a little llama on the shirt with fabric markers. Bright, fun, and comfortable enough to actually enjoy the night.
A little crafty: weekend projects
5. Peely (kids & adults)
Everyone’s favorite banana. Yellow hoodie and yellow sweatpants as the base, then a green “stem” made from a rolled-up paper towel tube covered in green paper, stuck to a headband. Draw Peely’s face on the hood with fabric markers — or wear the hood down and paint the face on a yellow swim cap. It’s goofy and it’s perfect.
6. Drift (teens & adults)
Drift’s iconic look is all about the mask. Cut a fox-like mask shape from a white paper plate or craft foam, paint on the pink markings with markers, and attach it with elastic. Pair with black pants, a dark hoodie or vest, and fingerless gloves. Mysterious and cool without much effort.
7. Marshmello (kids & adults)
A white bucket or a cardboard box, painted white, with two black X’s for eyes — that’s the whole helmet. Wear it over black clothes and you are instantly recognizable. Pro tip: cut the eye holes big enough to actually see, and skip wearing it while walking between houses if it limits vision.
8. Raven (teens & adults)
Black hoodie, black pants, and a DIY feathered mask: glue black craft feathers onto a cheap plastic mask base from the dollar store. Add some dark eye makeup and you’re the edgiest person at the party. This one photographs incredibly well.
9. Loot Llama (kids)
The best kid costume on this list, fight me. Blue or purple sweatsuit, llama ears on a headband (felt triangles), and a colorful “saddle blanket” made from a bright patterned scarf or a piece of fabric draped over the shoulders. Stuff a little pillow under the shirt for the round llama belly. Kids adore it and it’s basically pajamas.
10. Beef Boss / Durr Burger (kids & adults)
Red t-shirt, and a burger hat made from craft foam or painted cardboard: tan bun top and bottom, green lettuce squiggle, red tomato circle, brown patty. Glue it all onto a headband. It’s silly, it’s comfy, and nobody else at the party will be wearing it.
11. Crackshot (kids)
Fortnite’s nutcracker skin is made for Halloween. Red jacket or red hoodie, black pants, white belt (a strip of white fabric), and a tall black hat made from a rolled-up piece of black poster board. Draw on a mustache with eyeliner. Very “toy soldier,” very cute on little kids.
12. Fishstick (kids & adults)
The lovable fish-headed pirate. Orange or gold beanie pulled low, a simple pirate vest or striped shirt, and big cartoon fish eyes glued to the beanie. Add a toy sword or a cardboard pickaxe and you’re the friendliest pirate on the block.
No time to DIY? Buy a Fortnite costume on Amazon instead
Sometimes Halloween sneaks up on you and there’s just no time for a craft project. No shame in that — here are five Fortnite costumes you can order on Amazon.ca right now. Every pick below has at least 10 customer reviews and a solid rating, and most are officially licensed. Ratings checked September 28, 2026 — they can change, so double-check the listing before you buy.
For the grown-ups

Peely banana costume — 4.9 stars from 12 reviews. A unisex adult banana suit (sizes S to Plus) that’s basically wearable pajamas. Pair it with the DIY face-paint trick from #5 above and nobody will know you didn’t make it.

Fortnite Raven union suit — officially licensed, 4.3 stars from 53 reviews. A one-piece union suit, which means it’s warm — a genuine advantage for Canadian Halloween. Men’s sizes M to XL.
For the kids
All three kids’ picks below are officially licensed by InSpirit Designs and ship from Amazon.

Fishstick youth costume — 4.1 stars from 118 reviews. Youth sizes for ages 7 and up. The friendliest fish-headed pirate on the block, ready to wear.

Drift youth costume — 4.2 stars from 92 reviews. The fox-mask look kids love, without any craft foam or paper plates.

Grimey boys costume — 4.4 stars from 36 reviews. A newer skin that’ll stand out from the sea of Skull Troopers.
Squad up: group & family ideas
Fortnite costumes are even better in groups:
- The Team Leaders: Cuddle Team Leader (pink) + Fireworks Team Leader (blue bear ears) + P.A.N.D.A. Team Leader (panda ears). Same base outfit, three color swaps.
- Family Peely: everyone in yellow, each person decorates their banana face differently.
- Jonesy + Peely: the classic duo. One person does the 30-minute Jonesy, the other does the banana.
- Skull Trooper + Ghoul Trooper: couples costume, zero extra effort.
The 10-minute cardboard pickaxe
Nearly every costume on this list gets better with a harvesting tool. Cut a pickaxe shape from cardboard (two rectangles crossed, basically), wrap the handle in brown tape or paper, paint the head silver or gold, and you’re done. Light, safe for kids, and it sells the whole look.
Trick-or-treat safety quick list
- Add reflective tape to dark costumes (Skull Trooper, Raven, Drift).
- Make sure masks don’t block peripheral vision — face paint is the safer choice for younger kids.
- Costumes should be short enough to walk stairs in, especially for little ones.
- Bring a flashlight. Loot llamas need to see where they’re going.
