Treasure Hunters, Fortnite’s new One Piece mini-season, launched November 1 — and hidden inside it is possibly the wildest free reward Fortnite has ever handed out. It’s called the Pirate Shop, and if you get lucky enough to find it, every single item in the Item Shop that costs V-Bucks becomes free to claim for 14 days.
Yes, really. Here’s how it works, what it doesn’t cover, and how to time it so you get the most out of it.
What is the Pirate Shop?
The Pirate Shop is a Treasure Hunt prize that drops from chests in Battle Royale during the Treasure Hunters season (November 1 to December 5). It’s in the weekly Treasure Hunt prize pool, which means you have chances to find it all season long — but it’s rare, and it all comes down to luck.
The first player to report finding it, snowslept, got it on day one in a normal Solos lobby, on their third match, after opening around 150 chests. So yes, it’s possible — but go in expecting a grind, not a guarantee.
One lovely detail: if you’re playing squads and one of your teammates finds it, the whole squad gets it too. Squad up, Cozy Squad — this one genuinely pays to play together.
Two tokens, two years
Winning the Pirate Shop doesn’t give you one shot — it gives you two activations:
- 2026 token: activate any time before December 15, 2026
- 2027 token: activate any time between January 1 and December 15, 2027
Once you activate a token, the 14-day clock starts — and only then. There’s no rush to press the button the second you win it. To activate, head to the Item Shop and look for the “Plunder the Item Shop” menu, then hit Activate Now.
Everything you claim during those 14 days is yours permanently. It’s a claiming window, not a rental — and Jam Tracks are included.
What’s NOT included
Before you start planning your shopping spree, the limits:
- Real-money offers (like Starter Packs and Quest Packs) are excluded — only items sold for V-Bucks count.
- You can’t use it to gift items to other players.
- Battle Pass levels and rewards are excluded.
- It can’t be transferred to another account.
- You can only claim one free Sidekick you don’t already own.
So think of it as a 14-day run on the cosmetic shop stock — not a substitute for buying the Battle Pass.
Timing is everything
Because the timer only starts when you activate, the smartest move is to wait for a shop wave you actually want. Two dates worth circling:
- November 7: Zoro, Sanji, and the Chopper Sidekick arrive in the Item Shop.
- November 13: Buggy arrives.
If you’re holding a 2026 token and those One Piece skins are on your wishlist, activating just before one of those waves lands is how you get the most value out of your 14 days. And remember, your 2027 token is a whole second chance next year — don’t burn both at once.
Bonus: gifting the Battle Pass
While you’re in Treasure Hunters mode, one more freebie worth knowing: if you gift the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass to a friend, you both receive a bonus Dark Kawaii Team Leader outfit style. Epic hasn’t confirmed any other cosmetics tied to the gift, so that’s the confirmed part — but a matching style for both of you is a sweet deal if you were planning to gift the pass anyway.
Things We Don’t Know For Sure
Keeping it honest, the way we do here:
- Epic hasn’t shared the odds of the Pirate Shop dropping, and nobody knows yet if there’s a limit on how often it can drop.
- Sources disagree slightly on whether it drops from any Battle Royale chest or only from special Treasure Hunt chests — so keep opening everything and we’ll update this post as the community learns more.
The bottom line
The Pirate Shop is a lottery ticket, not a plan — but it’s a genuinely incredible one, and the fact that it comes back for a second activation in 2027 makes it the gift that keeps on giving. Open your chests, play with your squad, and if that golden chest glows, don’t activate until the shop looks the way you want it.
