Games In My Backlog – There’s Not Enough Time!

5 Games I Bought But Haven’t Played Yet

  • 3 games
  • When I bought them
  • What platform they are on
  • Why I haven’t played them

I have a confession to make. I’m a collector. I just like to have the things in case I want to use them someday. I do this with everything – books, purses, shoes, and of course, games. So many games.

And to make it more complicated, I have three consoles/devices that I game on – Playstation 5, Steam (on the Rog Ally), and Switch. So…that’s a lot of collecting.

I love gaming but…I have a problem with starting something new. When I struggle with it, I’m more likely to give up and put it aside and go play something easier. But sometimes, I just don’t even start because I have to be in the right mindset to start playing a new game. And honestly, most days, I’m just not there.

Here are 5 games I’ve bought and immediately put into the backlog list. Not even opened. Not even started. SMH. I know. Craziness. I’m trying not to buy new games and just working on the backlog. And once I start a game, I’m trying to finish it.

(Reminder: need to play Last of Us – it’s been a minute and I’ve pretty much forgotten what is even going on)

Nintendo Switch Backlog

  1. Inner Space: A cozy game were you explore and fly around the Inverse – inside out planets with no horizons. Abandoned oceans, ancient skies, and a lost history abound in this fading realm. Why have I never played it? Honestly, I’m not sure. The trailer is beautiful with calm music. It looks like it is the kind of game where you can really just relax without any pressure. Maybe I didn’t start it because it looks too unstructured? I don’t know. But I haven’t touched it. I onlly paid a few bucks for it so I don’t feel pressure to play it.
  2. Airhead: An organism that looks like a bi air filled head has a leak and your mission is to save it. Use air tanks, search for upgrades and abilities, finish puzzles. And maybe most importantly, figure out the connection between them all. I paid around $7 for this game when it was on sale and people were talking about it so I went for it. But I haven’t opened it once. I probably should try it. It looks pretty cute and cozy. But I’m not great at puzzles. Shush – just try it girl.

Steam Backlog

Ok – honestly, most of my stream catalogue is backlog. I haven’t turned on my Rog Ally in about a year. It’s sitting in a box. Why? Mostly because I haven’t set it up to stream yet. And I guess I could take it to the lake with me in the summer but I’m already hauling so much back and forth that most of the time I just end up taking my switch. But I keep getting games because I intend to get my Rog Ally set up to stream. Soon…

Anyway, here’s a few of the backlogged games on Steam:

  1. What Remains of Edith Finch?: I bought and downloaded this ages ago and I’ve heard really good things about it. You play as a young girl who is trying to figure out why she is the last person in her family still alive. Ya, kind of dark, right? So obviously, you have to be in a decent state of mind to play this. And honestly, I just haven’t been there.
  2. Raft: This honestly looks like such a good game. A voyage across the sea; scavenging and collecting and building your raft home; battles with sharks. There’s really no reason that I haven’t played this game other than the fact that is is on Steam.
  3. Hollow Knight: I bought this game because it’s been talked about in my cozy gaming groups so much and I’m sure it’s a great game. It’s a 2D adventure game with weird bugs and caverns and stuff like that. Looks very cool. Again, the only real reason I haven’t played it is because it’s on Steam.

Bottom line – I really need to sort out my Steam situation and get playing some of those games. Maybe my solution is to figure out a way to stream my Steam games from the lake.

Or maybe I just need to quit buying new games and play the ones I have. Hmmm…what do you think?
